How did you come about with the idea of featuring your grandmother in your social media videos?
It wasn’t preplanned. It just happened. I used to do videos on my own and one day I needed my grandma for a particular dialogue cover video from Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam. She was game for it and to my surprise the video was a super hit. We decided to do videos together after that.

How has the reception been so far?
We’re almost mini celebrities in Chennai. People come up to us to take selfies and things like that. It feels good and encourages us to do more such videos.

Who decides on what each of you do in these videos?
It’s really a family effort. We sit together and discuss the videos and what we could possibly do. My mother handles the camera and my brother directs us. We also indulge our fans by taking recommendations from them pretty often.

People often assume that the joy of life ends with old age, your videos have proven otherwise — what do you want your audience to take away from your videos?
I want all my viewers to realise that age is just a number. I hope our videos teach our fans to ignore negative people and just do what makes you happy. We do get negative comments but we’ve learned to ignore them and just do what we think is fun. We have learned to follow our heart and its working for us.

Are you both interested in acting professionally?
Yes. We are both interested in acting. I’ve always wanted to be an actor and so I am thankful with the attention I am getting. This is the second innings for my grandma and she’s been getting opportunities like we never expected. Hopefully 2021 will be a good year for both of us. We really have so much to thank our fans for and hope they will continue to support us.
