The extraordinary offerings of Irida Skky Lounge will probably become your favourite place for all celebrations once you have dined here. Founded by a group of passionate globetrotters, the lounge is the culmination of years of travel and gastronomic exploration. With a team boasting decades of experience in the culinary world, the restaurant aims to bring a diverse array of flavours and influences to the tables of Chennai.
From the tantalising Skky High Salad to the exotic Malaysian Curry Puff, each dish is a testament to creativity and culinary expertise. But it’s not just about the food; the ambience of Irida Skky Lounge is equally enchanting.
Ambience: Inspired by the iris flower and Greek mythology, the space exudes elegance and whimsy, offering diners a picturesque backdrop for their dining experience. Inspired by the iris flower and the Greek goddess of rainbows, Irida, the decor boasts clean lines and contemporary aesthetics, complemented by vibrant hues reminiscent of sunsets and rainbows. Perched on the 10th floor, the lounge offers an uninterrupted panoramic and breezy view of Chennai city, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.
Food: The Tapas: The meticulously crafted menu at Irida Skky Lounge is a blend of global influence that mixes modern twists to tantalise your taste buds and ignite your senses. Each dish served as tapas or small portions allowed me to taste most of the dishes on the menu.
Skky High Salad with salt-baked beets, creamy goat cheese, juicy oranges, and candied hazelnuts, perfectly balanced to create a harmonious palate pleaser. Kale & Bok Choy Chaat brought a fusion of textures and flavours with crisp kale and bok choy, tangy yoghurt, refreshing mint, sweet tamarind, and bursts of pomegranate seeds. Tacos served with options from a tantalising array of fillings, including chicken al pastor, BBQ pulled pork, oyster mushroom, or crispy shrimp, served with chipotle slaw and creamy avocado crema, promising a fiesta of flavours in every bite.
Ross Omelette gave a playful twist as the classic tortilla de patatas meets the rich xacuti gravy, topped with charred and raw onions and a squeeze of lime, delivering a burst of flavour with every forkful. Malaysian Curry Puff embraced me with a flaky pastry filled with fragrant curry chicken, transporting your taste buds to the streets of Malaysia with every bite.
Tiger Prawns was the highlight of the meal. The succulent tiger prawns bathed in a luxurious moilee beurre blanc, infused with aromatic curry leaf oil, offered a tantalising taste of coastal indulgence and made me nostalgic of my childhood food memories. Crispy Aubergine & Lotus Root was a new entry to my taste buds. The sweet and sour goodness of crispy aubergine and lotus root, dusted with togarashi seasoning, delivered a symphony of flavours to my palate.
Mocktails: The meticulously crafted mocktails dazzled my palate and refreshed my senses. First Time gave a burst of freshness with watermelon, fragrant curry leaf, and super lime, creating flavours that dance on your taste buds. Spicy Lipstick was perfect balance of sweet strawberries, fiery jalapenos, and tangy sweet lime, leaving a lingering tingle on your lips. And the Tropical Jitters transferred me to a tropical paradise with the luscious flavours of mango, invigorating cold brew coffee, and creamy coconut, offering a refreshing respite from the Chennai heat.
Desserts: Earl Grey/Thai Tea Crème Brûlée was a delight for my taste buds, the creamy decadence of crème brûlée infused with the delicate flavours of Earl Grey and Thai tea, accompanied by fresh berries and coconut, offered a harmonious blend of flavours and textures which upped my day from a good one to a great one.
