Hundreds Bistro, the latest gastronomic delight in Chenna is brought to you by the creators of Vellore’s famous Hundreds Heritage. Curious about the name, we spoke to Muddasar Malik, one of the partners who also shared many interesting details with us. “We are known as the Hundreds Family. We are from the family of beedi manufacturers, a hundred-year-old company in Vellore called Hundred Beedis. We have a restaurant called Hundreds Heritage, a gym called Hundreds Fitness and Hundreds Tea.
“Food has always been our passion. We try to do contemporary Indian dining so we had modern presentation with traditional Indian elements, say Dal Makhani Pizza, Chicken Harisa Pizza and so on with. We try not to be too experimental though, our patrons want superb food and we don’t want to go overboard. “

Their signature dishes follow Muddasar Malik, says, “Tandoor Wings tossed in Harisa Sauce is our speciality, it’s unique because all the wings are fried usually. Mutton Sheekh Kebab drizzled with bone marrow butter and served with pita bread is another unique dish you won’t find elsewhere. Even the pitas are home-made and everything is daily fresh and in-house baked. The pita has some herbs and spices. The Dal Makhani Pizza and Barakebab are very popular.”

Other notable dishes are the Harimirch Prawns which are jumbo prawns with harimirch masala. The Mutton Salli Pao is succulent and hearty. The Triple Layer Smashed Beef Burger with cheese is sumptuous and served with fries. A complete meal that will fill your tummy. The Mutton Biriyani is definitely worth a try. On the dessert front, the Chocolate Cheesecake is wickedly rich with three layers of chocolate, white tart and milk, a dish inspired from Turkey.
