Delicious cocktails and food from a carefully curated international menu in namma Chennai format is what you can expect at Purple Chameleon.
Ambience:
Walk into trippy lights and a very cool ambience spread over 4000 sq. ft. Although this restaurant is located inside a mall and there’s enough hustle bustle outside as you’d expect in any mall, it’s completely surreal and cosy when you step inside. Bright, colourful shaped sofas welcome you to relax. The catchy phrases and quotes on neon UV lights are picture worthy. One of the neon sign boards that caught our eyes read, “Trust me, you can dance”. Most of the diners were already tapping their feet to some psychedelic music. We loved the hallucinogenic effect here.
Food & beverage:
Get transported to a world where drinks are elixirs and food that will make you drool. They serve global cuisine with a good variety of dishes. Even a simple dish on the menu is turned into an exciting and unique one with a local twist here. Chakli chaat, a south Indian snack was crispy murukku layered with curd, sweet and spicy chutneys, sev and sprinkled with a little boondi on top. Khasta bun paratha served in a steel plate has aloo and cheddar cheese in every layer served with spicy chutney in a shot glass on the side. Thai red chicken curry was a delicious broth of coconut milk and chicken cubes served with steamed rice. We also liked the Karaage chicken, a Japanese style fried dish topped with a local twist of onion powder, garnished with sesame seed onion rings. The Big gun burger platter was quite a mouthful and was topped with cheese, coleslaw, fried egg, bacon and fries on the side. Also do try their Carnivore byte, a mix of smoked sausage, crispy bacon, onion and cheese balls. Unique flavoured cocktails and mocktails served in bird shaped glasses were just what we needed to unwind. Try their Chattering parrot mocktail, a chatkara drink infused with guava rimmed with spicy masala and garnished with gold leaf. Summer sashay drink was perfect for the Chennai heat with a hint of jamun. For dessert, we recommend the PC’s Rich walnut brownie served with caramel sauce and vanilla ice-cream.
