According to Pantone Color Institute experts, colours for Spring/Summer 2022 reflect our aspiration for balance as we move through a changing landscape.

Krishnamani

Pantone recently revealed that Very Peri, a blue-purple hue, is its colour of 2022. The shade is described as a “warm and friendly blue hue with a carefree confidence and joyful attitude.” Very Peri is just one shade of blue Pantone predicts will be big next year. It’s also anticipating Spun Sugar (a pastel blue), Glacier Lake (a powdery blue), Skydiver (a bright blue) and Harbor Blue (a dark blue-green) to resonate with many next year.

We at The House of Krishnamani have taken our notes and are putting our creative minds to juxtapose these very colours in our latest collection merging the trends of full length dresses, A-line dresses and stylish overcoats with these new and fresh colours.

I personally believe that the colours are going to be subtle and loud the coming year 2022. Pastels have constantly been everyone’s favourite for summers over the last couple of years and I think the coming year too, pastel colours like turquoise, shades of olive green, yellow, peach, pink and lavender will be the game winners. Bright fun colours too are slowly coming back in this 2022, lemon yellow, neon green, orange, fuchsia, red and electric blue are going to be everywhere.

Post Covid, we have also seen fashion weeks and fashion forecasts that do not differentiate seasons for colours and dark colours like burnt brown, greys, bottle green, dark red being the colours of the year.

Shine, shimmer and bling too are something that will be in throughout the coming year. Fabric like raw silk, crepe, organza and net are evergreen and will continue to dominate in the Indian Bridal segment.

Use of multiple colours in an outfit is going to rock as well. An outfit with many colours are something that is slowly gaining popularity as well. For my next collection, I’m using a lot of pastel and bright colours and most lehengas have more than three to four colours. The sarees too are a blend of pastels and bright colours. My collection also has a lot of embroidery where we have used many colours for thread embroidery and many coloured embellishments too.

2022 is definitely going to be a year filled with many colours and not just four or five popular colours! Even Pantone has highlighted a few of these pastel shades, including the one I love working with that they call Very Peri.

Very Peri is the new sensation in the Pantone family! It’s a colour which comes from the blue family and has a red violet undertone. It is totally inspired by the new age digital era. Fashion, product design and hardware and engineering industries will be able to use this colour in varied forms. It is a very new colour that will also inspire the fashion industry to create differently. Designers will create path breaking and futuristic styles that are away from what has been created so far. This colour depicts calm, loyalty and a new spiritual and vibrant energy.

The Pantone Very Peri colour is a very futuristic colour inspired by the flower periwinkle. This colour has been inspired by the changing time and transition we all are going through. As we all know we are going ahead with our lives with the current pandemic that doesn’t seem to end. The colour is in the shades of lavender and purple family. This colour can be easily paired with most of the colours. One can wear an entire outfit made out of periwinkle colour or can pair a part of an outfit with black, white, beige or nudes for a formal look. If you like to give it a more colourful and casual look, you can also pair it with colours like light yellows, plum, pinks or greens.

To give it a more party wear look you can use a sequinned fabric in this colour and use it as a cocktail dress, saree, long skirt or a lehenga. One can incorporate this colour also as an embroidery on any of outfit.

Very Peri is a Periwinkle colour that’s dynamic and a very vivifying colour I must say. The beauty of this colour is that we could combine with contrast colours like red, white and black and it still looks really amazing.

The normal shades of blue or grey are so common now that this shade will really stand out and since it’s so new, I’m sure it will be loved by the young fashionistas too.

Be it Indian ethnic or western wear, this colour is so magical and magnificent that it doesn’t need much accessories and make one stand apart without much fuss.

After last year’s dual shades Illuminating and Ultimate Gray; represented the year of distress that was 2021, Pantone is ready to add some colour to the New Year. The proprietary colour space is brightening up the future with Pantone Colour of 2022, Very Peri. The colour also known as PANTONE 17-3938 is representative of the transformative times after COVID-19. After last year’s muted yellow and slate grey, this cheerful lilac is bound to reimagine 2022. I’m already loving this shade.

Aside from being a tone used in the high-contrast games popular among Gen Z, the shade also has roots in the natural world and in wellness, with lilac, lavender, and periwinkle plants offering a new coolness. Very Peri also appears in a lot of beauty and fashion trend forecasts. I like it as a solid, as hi gloss, sequined and for patchwork or even to bring out a solid on a contrast colour.

The colour palette for Spring Summer looks very juicy when combined together. Many designers have recycled patches of old fabrics to keep in with the recycling trend. I have used left-over fabrics to create patches on my dresses, to give it a sustainable, light and bubbly effect. In the picture, I’m wearing daffodil meets canary yellow with patches of colour to connect us to the spontaneity of a summer garden. These are all from the colour palette of Pantone 2022 hues.
