The lowdown on IRF
The Indian Racing Festival (IRF) is a meticulously curated motorsport event designed to captivate the growing fan base in India. Under the IRF banner, the Indian Racing League (IRL) and the FIA-certified Formula 4 Indian Championship (F4IC) represent two premier championships. The IRF is officially approved by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), adding a layer of prestige and official recognition to the competition.

The Indian Racing League (IRL) stands out as India’s only four-wheel racing league and the world’s first gender-neutral racing championship series, promoting inclusivity and competitive spirit. The IRL features six city-based teams competing in a dynamic franchise-based format.

F4
FIA Formula 4, also known as FIA F4, is an open-wheel, single-seater racing category aimed at junior drivers. It serves as the initial step for aspiring racing drivers moving from karting to single-seater racing. While there is no global championship, individual nations or regions host their own championships in adherence to a universal set of rules and specifications.

About Night Racing
The Indian Racing Festival (IRF) debuted its night race at the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit recently. This groundbreaking event marked the first night race on a street circuit in India. Over three thrilling days, eight teams illuminated the track with their high-speed machines.

The Chennai Formula Racing Circuit, a 3.5-kilometre stretch, was constructed by RPPL in collaboration with the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT). The high-speed competitors raced through the heart of India’s motorsports capital, with the iconic Marina Beach in view. The track started at the Island Grounds and wove past several key landmarks before returning to the starting point. Nineteen turns, multiple chicanes, and tricky elevations punctuated the long stretches of tarmac, keeping both drivers and fans on their toes.
