The Cycle Gap in R.A. Puram offers a unique #GLOCAL twist. The restaurant aims to celebrate the flavors of Chennai while catering to the working-class Global Tamilian. It blends global and local cuisine, creating a delightful fusion of flavors with a touch of local charm. The menu boasts a variety of cocktails and mocktails that are sure to tantalise your taste buds. What sets it apart is not just the taste, but also the quirky names given to their dishes, making the culinary experience even more interesting.

Food
For starters, the smoky flavours of the perfectly grilled vegetables kebab combined with the tangy BBQ sauce created a perfect harmony of taste and texture. The succulent and well-seasoned beef koftas, the juicy house-marinated Chicken Quarter Piece with skin were a true delight. A unique spin on the classic tacos, the Pichi Potta Kozhi Tacos were filled with flavourful shredded chicken and topped with a variety of tantalising ingredients. The highlight was the Cocktail Idli – a creative twist to the traditional idli, these cocktail-sized idlis were coated in aromatic podi, adding a burst of flavour to every bite. Every starter is accompanied with a combination of five dips that elevates each of these unique dishes one level up.
Moving on to the main course, the Mushroom Stroganoff caught my attention. The medium-spiced gravy, combined with the freshness of capsicum and mushrooms, created a symphony of flavours that was rich, creamy and worked very well together. Vegetarians must try this dish. The Butter Chicken and Coin Parotta was another classic option that did not disappoint. The creamy butter chicken paired with soft and flaky coin parottas was a match made in food heaven.

For seafood lovers, the Grilled Seasonal Fish with Chili Lime and Curried Spinach is a must-try. The perfectly fileted- grilled fish, with rice and greens on the side offers a delightful burst of flavours that will transport you to seafood paradise.

If you’re looking for a quick, yet satisfying meal, I highly recommend trying their Mini Lunch Box, which is exclusively available only during lunch time. It is a delightful Chennai combo that consists of rice, chicken curry, Chicken 65, carrot halwa, and papad. It’s a feast for your taste buds at a reasonable price.
To complement your meal, they offer a variety of refreshing mocktails and cocktails. The ANNACHI EANNACHU mocktail blends pineapple, ginger, and passion fruit, delivering tropical flavours with a zesty kick. The KA-K-KOO-KAI-KIWI mocktail combines the freshness of kiwi, basil leaves, pineapple, lime, and lemonade. My personal favourite is the ROSAPOO mocktail, which indulges your senses with the soothing and fragrant blend of watermelon, lychee, coconut water, and a touch of rose.
