When and how did you realise that this is what you want to do?
I was never sure if I would become an actor, but I always knew I did not see myself in the corporate landscape. My journey began as a model, and I did numerous print shoots for the first two years of my career. In 2016, I embarked on my journey as an actor. Initially, I was not very skilled at it, but over time, I dedicated myself to improvement. I attended numerous auditions for TV shows and ads. My first movie was “Poster Boys,” and since then, I have not looked back. I have witnessed personal growth throughout this process.
What are the hurdles you had to face to reach where you are today?
There have been several hurdles in my life, as everyone encounters their own challenges daily. For me, one significant obstacle was after “Laila Majnu.” I had anticipated the movie to be a hit, propelling me into the realm of successful actors. Unfortunately, the film did not generate the attention we had anticipated. This setback led to a professional struggle, prompting me to make a conscious choice to exclusively engage with projects I deeply believed in and could give my utmost effort to. The most significant hurdle was the wait to discover a project that truly resonated with me and in which I had complete conviction.
Please share some of the highpoints of your journey so far.
For sure, my first movie was a major highlight. I was not too sure about acting, but my agency and director Jogi Ji believed in me. Even after auditioning twice, Jogi Ji saw my potential and gave me a shot in my debut film “Poster Boys.”
Another big moment was in “Laila Majnu.” Despite being rejected initially, I nailed the audition and got a role that changed my career. Winning a Filmfare award for “Bulbul” was special too – it boosted my confidence in my career choice.
It is not easy the way we women juggle around so many things- our work, homes, families, social life, fitness etc. Some tips on how you like to balance it all.
For me, acting is just one part of my life, not my entire existence. I believe in equilibrium, whether it is about my career, family, friends, or well-being. I have realized the importance of not overinvesting in one area and neglecting the others. To achieve this, I have made a conscious effort to clarify my priorities and make thoughtful choices. I ensure that I allocate time for myself, friends and moments with my family and friends, and pursue my personal interests. Playing tennis, for example, has always been a passion, and I make it a point to set aside dedicated time for it. This approach helps me navigate the complexities and demands of life while maintaining a sense of fulfillment and harmony.
What is your fitness and wellness regime like? What is your fashion quotient?
In terms of fitness, I aim to work out at least six times a week. Tennis has been a cornerstone of my wellness routine for years – I find immense joy in playing it. Recently, I have taken up dance classes, which I have been thoroughly enjoying. My diet is health-conscious, and I have adopted the 80-20 rule – allowing myself to savor my favorite foods while maintaining a balanced intake.
I have often thought I lack fashion sense; my approach is to focus on comfort in my clothing choices. I am continuously learning about the latest trends and enjoy experimenting with my style.
Which are some of your most favourite holiday destinations?
My absolute favourite holiday destination must be the Maldives. Although I have not been there yet, I am really looking forward to visiting soon. Recently, I had the opportunity to explore Switzerland, and I completely fell in love with its breathtaking beauty. Anywhere amidst the mountains is a place I could see myself settling in.
What are your passions or hobbies and how often do you get to take time for them?
Reading has become a newfound hobby of mine, and I have been thoroughly enjoying it. Tennis has been my lifelong passion since childhood – it is where I truly feel like myself. Whenever I step onto the court, I experience a sense of childlike joy and enthusiasm.
How was your experience working in any of your recent films and can you recall some memorable moments from the shoot?
It has truly been an incredible experience. I had the privilege of collaborating with some exceptional actors. I had a wish to work with Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor, and amazingly, that wish came true. Both turned out to be incredibly warm and considerate individuals, making sure I felt comfortable throughout the shoot.
What movies have you signed up for? What is in the pipeline in terms of your work currently? Tell us about your upcoming roles with Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor?
I am involved in something quite intriguing right now, and my roles in both films are distinct from each other. These upcoming movies are packed with surprises. Audiences can certainly expect to witness me in a completely new light, and I am genuinely thrilled about that.
Are you looking at signing up any South Indian movie projects?
I would be absolutely delighted to be a part of a South Indian film. I am just waiting for the right opportunity to come my way, and as soon as it does, I will be quick to seize it.
What does beauty mean to you? What is your beauty regime?
Beauty signifies embracing your most authentic self, exuding confidence in your own skin, and embracing your imperfections. It is about being true to yourself, devoid of self-judgment, and highlighting your genuine self to the world.
My daily beauty routine is quite straightforward. I begin with a gentle cleanser and then apply Clinique’s Moisture Surge with SPF 25 during the day. This step not only keeps my skin well-hydrated but also offers protection from harmful UV rays. At night, I turn to Moisture Surge again, as it leaves my skin feeling nourished, radiant, and incredibly smooth.
For me, authenticity is key. I am a passionate believer that real beauty comes from accepting and embracing who you truly are – flaws and all. Their message encourages you to choose self-acceptance, love yourself just as you are, not be afraid of your imperfections and be happy. This powerful message resonates beautifully with the world, especially in our present time, and it is particularly important for young girls.
