Mir Nawaz and Mir Waseem felt a deep sense of responsibility to revive the legacy of Kashmiri craftsmanship. Despite the lack of industrial development and job opportunities in the region, they chose to turn adversity into an opportunity and hence was born Miras Carpet Industries in 2005, amidst the ruins of Hampi in Karnataka.

Naming their brand ‘Miras,’ meaning ‘legacy,’ they committed themselves to restoring the grandeur of Kashmir’s artisanal traditions. Every piece crafted under the Miras banner was not just a product but a story—of tradition, artistry, and perseverance. Miras Carpet Industries soon grew into a renowned name, setting benchmarks in the global textile industry. Today, it proudly operates over 20 carpet factories, employs over 250 skilled weavers, and runs 36 pashmina looms.

Miras specialises in high-quality, hand-knotted carpets made from wool, silk-on-wool, and silk-on-silk, alongside finely woven pashmina shawls. Their excellence has earned them a GI Tag for authentic pashmina, Kani, and Sozni shawls, and their carpets now adorn the floors of luxury hotels, VVIP lounges, airports and heritage mansions. The brand has also expanded its presence significantly, now boasting nine stores across South India and a growing global footprint. Most of Miras Carpet Industries’ business is export-oriented, supplying handcrafted carpets and pashmina shawls to high-end markets in the USA, Europe, and the Middle East.
