HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE THE PARTY SCENE IN BANGALORE RIGHT NOW?
The party scene in Bangalore is presently undergoing a slump. Most of our popular hangouts have lost their license. This decision has created a dead zone in most of Indiranagar and other popular areas that were the buzzing hotspots. Bars and pubs in star hotels are making a killing, like Bo Tai at JW Marriott is right now. Before this embargo was placed most pubs and bars used to do roaring business, especially on weekends.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE A SOCIALITE/INFLUENCER?
It takes conviction in your own taste and confidence. One doesn’t have to be a socialite to be an influencer. If I have the ability to influence somebody’s choice of where to eat, or shop or stay, I also need to wield that power with responsibility and be honest and unbiased.
SINCE YOU ARE QUITE POPULAR HOW HAVE YOU USED YOUR INFLUENCE OTHERWISE?
I am very committed to water conservation and prevention of food wastage. I have tried in my own small sphere of influence to ensure as many restaurants – stand alone or within star properties —stop pouring full glasses of water around the table. I suggest they pour half or leave a bottle or jug on the table so that each one can pour exactly how much they need. It pains me to see half or full glasses wasted post a meal. When invited for tastings I ensure, as much as possible, to go in small groups rather than me and my host, this ensures less wastage. I have no shame in taking a doggie bag back and giving it to the driver or a hungry soul on the streets.

WHAT IS YOUR REGULAR DAY LIKE?
My days can get really crazy sometimes — hopping from event to event. Sometimes four (five in one day has been my record so far) and then there are days where nothing is happening. I call these my rest days. It’s fun and it’s crazy and it’s exhilarating but between these lifestyle events, I also curate and ideate for my brand of plus-size clothing called Curvilicious. It is all pretty exhausting sometimes. But I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way.
